Renowned Film Critic Reacts to Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana
Highly reputable Australian film critic Jim Schembri has responded to Kristen Stewart being cast as Princess Diana in the upcoming film Spencer.
Schembri commented that his feelings about Stewart being cast as Princess Diana were generally positive.
“It feels like casting her is a good bet,” Schembri told Misfit Media.
“My take is that, dramatically, she’s got the runs on the board in films such as Seberg, Clouds of Sils Maria, Still Alice, Café Society, The Runaways, On The Road and Personal Shopper.”
Stewart has received multiple awards for her work in Drama films.
Schembri also pointed out that Stewart is playing to her strengths as Spencer will be a drama, not a comedy.
“The one arena where Stewart has not proved herself (yet) is comedy,” he said.
“Her recent turns in Charlie’s Angels and Happiest Season were painful to endure,” he continued.
“Fortunately, Spencer doesn’t appear to be a comedy so hopefully the role will play to her dramatic strengths.”
The upcoming film about Princess Diana deciding to end her marriage with Prince Charles titled Spencer will be directed by Pablo Larraín and has yet to receive a release date.
